She’s back! Fairtrade Woman 2008
Hello, my name is Becks, but for two weeks last year I transformed into the magnificent Fairtrade Woman and ate nothing but Fairtrade food for 14 whole days! I did it to raise awareness of Fairtrade Fortnight which takes place every year.It was fantastic to see there was a lot more Fairtrade stuff than I thought there was (and for that matter there’s even more available now thanks to people like you buying Fairtrade!)Shops could do better though. They could stock a lot more Fairtrade if they wanted to!That’s why this year (for some ever-so-slightly mad reason) I’m going to become Fairtrade Woman once again! During Fairtrade Fortnight, 25 February – 9 March 2008, I’ll be surviving on nothing but Fairtrade food. This year I’m going to make things a bit different! This year it would put a huge smile on my face if you can do something for Fairtrade Fortnight too! For the two weeks that I’m on my Fairtrade mission, I’ll be coming up with some small (and some not so small) things you can do to help shout about Fairtrade. All will become clear in the next few weeks as I’ll be posting some messages and videos to MySpace to explain things. I’ve even managed to persuade a few friends to help so stay tuned for news to follow…Oh, and in case you were wondering, in real life I work for Oxfam. I love Fairtrade food not only because it tastes rather splendid, but also because when I buy it I know that farmers in poor countries get a decent price for their stuff. With Fairtrade everyone’s a winner!
