Goodone is an award-winning fashion label that designs and produces innovative structured knitwear.

Using reclaimed fabrics, the label has made a deliberate choice to source sustainably since its inception in 2006. Its next collection is now set to debut in TopShop stores from September, coinciding with London Fashion Week.

Having exhibited at Esthetica as part of London Fashion Week for the past three seasons, Goodone has gained increasing recognition and presence within the industry, including having been handpicked by Yasmin Sewell to receive BFC sponsorship.

Yasmin chose to mentor Goodone, leading to the preparation of the A/W10 collection. This collection has now been bought outright by TopShop.

TopShop say; “As an up and coming brand they [Goodone] have successfully combined sustainability with great design. The story behind the clothes and the brand is an innovative concept and one we’re sure our customers will be interested in.”

The collection will be sold online as well as in the Oxford Circus flagship store.

The same collection was also bought by Yoox.com, an online boutique selling exclusive collections by prestigious designers, further highlighting the success of these current designs.

This A/W10 collection includes body-hugging dresses with quilted hips and shaping side panels, and a bomber in chunky Aran knit. Crocheted cutouts reveal flashes of skin, setting off the layered quilting of cropped, sports inspired hoodies.

In contrast, knitted peg trousers and a backless hoody are easy to wear while being innately contemporary. Denim-effect knits lift a monochrome palette of varying shades of black, grey, cream and taupe.

Clothes retail between £70 for cashmere mix jumpers to £225 for a statement crochet dress.

Another exciting venture surrounding the brand is collaboration with Tesco, which will see an online diffusion line available in October.

The collection will incorporate key looks from the Goodone signature style including panelled and wrap dresses, leggings and skirts. This upcycled collection will be made entirely from ends of rolls and factory waste from a green factory in Sri Lanka.

Mainstream retailers such as Topshop and Tesco are beginning to take an interest in upcycling and looking to Goodone for innovative solutions.

According to DEFRA the fashion industry produces an astounding 2 million tonnes of clothing waste per annum, with only 16% recovered and the remainder destined for landfill.

It has been estimated that if every Briton purchased one item made from recycled wool a year it would save 371 million gallons of water, 480 million tonnes of chemical dyes and 4,571 million days of an average family’s electricity needs (UK Gov).

Goodone was founded by Nin Castle, who believes that the design and quality of their garments will persuade consumers that there is a real future in upcycling.

“The team at Goodone have a design method that’s informed by the use of recycled fabrics but not restrained by it”, says founder Nin Castle. “By mixing surplus luxury fabrics and new British knits with recycled garments, we achieve freedom of design and a strong feminine look.”
